How they were going to do this started with a demand that Enzo didn’t want to hear.

“You want me to go back to camp and get how many of my people?”

“We sure ain’t going up in there with only who we got right here,” Trevor said. “And I done provided enough of my crew to do our part.”

“We’ll go get half-a-dozen people,” Jon said. “With us and the folks you’ve brought, that’ll be enough to do this job.”

“How you figure?” Trevor asked. “We haven’t even discussed a plan yet.”

“I know how we’re going to do it,” Jon said.

Trevor tilted his head. “What? You making decisions for us now?”

Jon ignored him, focusing on Enzo. “We can do this like my group got into the prison.”

“That was messy, wasn’t it?”

“This won’t be.”

“Prison?” Trevor asked. “What the hell you talking about?”

Jon explained how Hope’s Dawn and Freedom Ridge had cleared out the prison yard to get inside. He told them how they’d used Molotov cocktails to clear out a group of zombies, smaller than the horde at the lab, but how they should be able to scale up the same plan to make it work.

“Nah.” Trevor crossed his arms and shook his head. “That ain’t gonna work.”

“It will work,” Jon said. “I’m sure it will.”

“This isn’t a prison. It’s a goddamn science lab. If we start throwing explosives in there, ain’t no tellin’ what might happen.”

“Those putas in there won’t be a problem anymore,” Arturo said. “That’s what’ll happen.”

“I’m telling you, it’ll work,” Jon said. “What other choice do we have?”

Trevor uncrossed his arms and came within a foot of Jon. “I don’t have to do shit. And I ain’t gonna risk blowing that whole goddamn lab up or setting it on fire.”

Jon’s nostrils flared. “Alright, then. You have a better suggestion?”

Backing up, Trevor licked his lips and pointed at the gate. “We’re gonna open that gate and unload on those bitches as they come swarming out.”

“What?” Arturo asked. “You’re insane!”

“Maybe,” Trevor said. “But it’s what we’re gonna do.”

“You’re gonna get us all killed!” Enzo chimed in.

“Nah, we’ll be alright.” Trevor pointed at Arturo, but kept his eyes on Enzo. “That’s why you’re gonna send bitch boy here back to your camp to grab some more of your crew. In the meantime, we got some work to do.” Trevor waved at Jon and the bikers, then walked back to the van that had followed them from his camp.

Pinching his lips together and holding in his growing frustration, Jon followed Trevor. Walking behind him, Arturo and Enzo spoke in Spanish, frustrated but not speaking too loudly. When they arrived at the back of the van, Trevor stood in front of a large bag at the edge of the cab. He unzipped it and stepped aside so that Jon and the others could see its contents.

“Landmines,” Jon said. “Where did you—”

“That don’t matter,” Trevor said. “But this is how we do this. We’ll set these out here in the street and stand back. We send
